seroquel vs elavil which is worse for weight gain?
Hi there,
I was just wondering which is worse for weight gain seroquel or elavil (amitriptyline). I know that seroquel actually physically alters your metabolism. Is this the same for elavil, or do people mainly gain the weight through eating too much.

Where can I find out if the medication that I take will prevent weight loss? I currently take Elavil.?
For 3/4 months I was not taking the Elavil because I kept forgetting to make an appt. for a refill. When I went for my appt., the doctor told me that I had lost 15lbs. When I asked him if not taking the Elavil could be the reason, he said “maybe”. I was overweight before I started taking the Elavil and I drink 2 glasses of Slimfast everyday, so I’m wondering if I go off of the Elavil if that will help with weight loss?? Thanks!

Drinking alcohol after getting off Amitriptyline (Elavil) how long do I have to wait?
I have been on the persciption drug Elavil (Amitriptyline) for 3 months. My doctor said not to drink alcohol while on this drug.
I was on the lowest dosage 10 mg for being able to sleep at night. I have decided to get off it and have not taken my pill in 10 days.
When can I drink alcohol again to where its safe and out, considering my dosage amount? Theres a big party coming up in a few days and I would like to drink that night.

diseases that make you .?
lethargic, mood swings, fits of rage. and when i say lethargic i mean i cant stay a wake for longer then maybe 3 to 4 hours at a time no matter how much sleep i get, no matter how much caffeine nothing can keep me awake . i don’t drink any just for the last three days i’ve tried drinking tea but it’s not helping at all.
i went to the doctor and they ran a CBC test and everything came back perfect except i’m anemic so i went on iron tablets and i think its gone now. white blood count was good. but that is what’s making me suspicious. if everything is fine what wrong with me?!?
i was diagnosed with bipolar i was put on med to control that but it was only helping a little bit so i took myself off of it as well as my mom did.
bipolar, schizophrenia, breast cancer run in my family
and some other people in my family have had other types of cancer.
but as i said before my CBC was perfect. i know you can get diseases that wont show up as any abnormality’s on the test. so what do you think?
my menses have been so off its not even funny. sometimes i don’t get them for three months at a time then i’ll get it for like two day then not for 5-6 months. i know some of the medication can cause Polycystic ovary syndrome. i’ve had my menses for 4 years it was evened out after the first year so yeah.
in the last 6 months i have been on
accutane
zoloft
elavil
depikine
and iron
off all medication now have been for almost a month
I’m quite worried. i cant afford the doctor right now and i dont have insurance and i just moved to a new country. so please if i could go to the doctor i would but i cant right now so don’t even sugest it i just need help on what i could be.

Fullness/ringing in ear?
I woke up on Friday morning with a feeling of “fullness” in my right ear, as well as a severe ringing. By day’s end, I went to the ER, where they irrigated my ear, and gave me a prescription for Elavil (for the ringing). Two days later, and I still have both the feeling of fullness, and the ringing has gotten worse. Any idea what has caused this, or what may be done to cure it?

Exercise to combat depression and anxiety.?
I have major depressive disorder that recurs every year to two years. I am currently having a bout of depression that is including both anxiety and depressed mood. I am on Elavil (50mg) and Wellbutrin XL (300mg). My question is, how many of you have used exercise as a means to combat your depression and did it help? I have been walking two miles per day for the last couple of weeks…some days are better than others but I’m having alot of blah, anxious days. Evenings/nights are always better for me. Any advice from others who are in or have been in my shoes?

Anyone ever tried the anti-depressant Elavil?
My doctor put me on a new anti-depressant Elavil today, i’m a little worried about how common weight gain is with this, as several other anti-depressants i have tried have caused this.
Has anyone tried this medication and did you have weight gain while on it?
I didn’t mean “new” as in new on the market, i just meant it’s new to me, just to clarify.
